CCO LACK TRANSPARENCY: SB 412 AND SB 459 NEEDED
A friend recently asked if he could sit in on a Trillium CCO Work Group committee that I serve on. He arrived early, but was turned away because “We just don’t have time for public comment.” Shocked me. This is when I learned that CCOs are not part of the public meetings law. Oregon’s “ambitious experiment in health care reform” is lacking transparency with Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs). The public needs to be allowed to be involved in the changes that are being proposed. When CCOs were first devised they were not included in the current public meetings law. CCOs are making decisions that involve billions of public medicine dollars. Two Senate bills have been presented to include the CCO meetings to the historical tradition of public involvement assured by public meeting laws.
